Insights Gained from Community Engagement Efforts
1. Description
Describing My Main Contribution To The Changemaking Project And Poster Exhibition
I established my Change Creating Project by recognising immediate issues that plagued our community. The issues encompassed challenges that include vaping, which is continuously increasing in every age group. I conducted a comprehensive investigation, collecting knowledge on the extent of the problems, the root causes, and potential solutions to create effective remedies. I additionally researched efficient programmes and patterns established in other sectors that could be modified according to the specific demands of the community I serve (Mabon, 2020). During the investigation of the platform, I established groups by collecting individuals who matched my excitement towards solving these kinds of problems. Our accomplishment is mainly because of collaboration, as each team collaborated closely with each other on creating and carrying out solutions. As an example, I helped a particular team to arrange a community to learn more about vaping and the causes of the people who are using it. The exhibition and conversation of posters, an avenue I established to draw attention to what I was doing, promote consciousness, and communicate with others in the community, was an essential component of the entire endeavour (Change Management at the Project Level, 2023). I managed to gain assistance, consisting of people in the community with our actions, and encourage change in behaviours via such poster displays and conversations.
2. Reflection
2.1 Main Contribution
I discovered a great deal about the procedure of creating solutions as a reaction to different problems within our local area through this Change Creating Programme. The significance of a methodical strategy formed one of the major points learnt. I learnt that thorough investigation and an in-depth knowledge of the issues that were before the issue are required to develop successful remedies. I managed to determine the fundamental causes of these problems throughout this research period, which allowed us to develop more specific options for resolution (Zhang et al., 2019). The undertaking also highlighted the significance of teamwork and cooperation. I began to understand that resolving difficult issues often requires an assortment of skills and perspectives.
2.2 Analysing The Process Of Making Interventions
By doing my assessment, referring to the Gibbs model, I have identified that my understanding and ability concerning making interventions have developed to a significant level. From the concerned project, I assessed the significance of problem assessment and evaluation. Moreover, the draughting and applicability of interventions are highly dependent on a problem that is being investigated. Further, I understood from the project that interventions are highly associated with or based on evidence-based practice. For instance, as per the problem of vaping, interventions can be presented in three steps: classical, crisis, and family systems. I also need to make more efforts to develop my skills in drafting and applying relevant interventions.
2.3 Analysing A Significant Moment
While doing this project, one of the significant moments was when my whole team got to know about the cause of vaping and its impact on people. It turned out to be an unforgettable experience since it prompted me to think about the extent to which small changes could have had an important effect on larger scales. At the very beginning, I thought that vaping was less dangerous than the consumption of cigarettes, and this was acceptable in society. The experience was enormously excellent to witness individuals who had been at first indifferent to or indifferent regarding the issue come to become involved in the search for a way out. That reinforced the confidence I have in the capability of community organisations to effectively bring about transformation and improve understanding. That was the main learning point for me to improve the change-making in people to avoid vaping.
3. Personal Learning Outcomes
First and foremost, I have gained a deeper insight into the power of engagement in the community. My confidence in the potential for successful change at the grassroots level was further enhanced after witnessing the way our programme has involved those who need to quit vaping and motivated others. It has demonstrated to me the capacity of collaborative effort and involvement in the community to bring about tangible improvements. My involvement in the undertaking additionally enhanced my management and teamwork capabilities (Rajak, 2023). I had the privilege of being able to develop my successful interpersonal and dispute-resolution capacity by managing and collaborating with an assortment of individuals with opposing points of view and capabilities. These qualities have proven extremely advantageous in both my private and professional life, and they're also useful in charitable activities. The effort additionally rendered me increasingly aware of social and environmental issues that enabled me to become an even more knowledgeable as well as accountable citizen. It encouraged us to incorporate more environmentally friendly decisions throughout my everyday routine, including advising others to reduce the use of vaping. It has improved numerous of my skills, including understanding the people who have worked with me on the project. It has enhanced my speaking ability in public and boosted my confidence, presentation skills, and life skills.
