Introduction Of Amazon's Middle to Last Mile Logistics: Challenges, Strategies
The topic or issue that you intend to study, and your rationale
This research aims to investigate the challenges Amazon faces in its middle-to-last mile delivery for trucks, develop effective strategies to overcome these challenges and explore the implications of optimized delivery on the overall supply chain. One of the main aims of the study is to find the challenges that are faced by the brand Amazon, during the time of delivery for the tracks. This is evidenced by the fact that more than 19% of the customers have witnessed late delivery (Escudero-Santana et al., 2022). The study wants to develop strategies that are effective for this situation in terms of overcoming the challenges that are faced by the brand Amazon while delivering the products. Many scholarly studies proclaim that the reason behind the problem is the lack of proper strategies in optimising truck routes during last-mile delivery. This research will serve the rationale of exploring such relationship and the extent to which both of these two variables are associated. The aim of the study is also to explore the implications of the overall supply chain and the optimized delivery.
Significance of the study
Proper delivery is important for the brands as the delivery leaves an impression on the customers and the customers get an idea of how important are they for the brand. Moreover, if the customer gets satisfied with the delivery system, then they will give a good review and they will be interested to do shopping with the brand again. Therefore, it can be mentioned that it is important for the brand to create a positive image to the customers (Handoyo, 2021). However, some problems are associated with the delivery system of the brand Amazon such as they are facing trouble arranging the resources that are required for the delivery and they are facing some technical issues. Therefore, it is needed to address the challenges properly and find a way that mitigate this problem.
Where do you plan to study it and why?
The study is planned to be performed within the organisational premises of Amazon. This is because Amazon is one of the major e-commerce businesses and has been marred by late deliveries due to improper last-mile logistics for the trucks. This is evidenced by the fact that late deliveries on Amazon have increased by 15.9% (Chevalier, 2021). Therefore, it serves as the appropriate premise for studying the relationship between truck route optimisation and time delivery and examining the challenges and strategies of truck route optimisation.
How the proposed project relates to your current role within that organisation and how you intend to go about your research
In an attempt to meet the research objectives, mixed methods will be applied to the research. This is because the secondary data will provide valid empirical findings that could be used to compare the extent of the relationship between the two variables that is obtained from the statistical interpretation of the primary findings.
What you intend to use as a starting point for the study
The starting point of the study is to go through peer-reviewed journals that are available on truck route optimisation. The initial research will focus on the challenges of truck route optimisation and its corresponding strategies.
has the literature you have consulted that has shaped the topic and your Approach to it;
The literature has a definite contribution in shaping the topic as there are several articles on truck route optimisation, however, the findings on the strategies on last mile logistics needs further exploration. Therefore, it has influenced the addition of identifying the strategies within the research topic. The literature has definitely shaped the research approach of selecting secondary data collection since the valid strategies of truck route optimisation during last-mile logistics are mentioned in peer-reviewed journals.
Initial ideas for the research questions
- What are the primary challenges faced by Amazon's middle to last mile trucking operations?
- What are the effective strategies that can be adopted by the brand Amazon to mitigate the challenges that are related to the system of delivery?
- What role does technology play in improving trucking operations in the middle to last mile?
- How do customer preferences and location impact the design of Amazon's delivery routes?
- What are the implications of Amazon's trucking strategies on cost, environmental sustainability, and customer satisfaction?
- What are the effects of the implications of optimized delivery on the overall supply chain?
Intended Methodology
Research methodology provides the legitimacy of the research and it also provides the foundlings of the research in a scientific way. The research is going to be conducted by the qualitative research method and the main reason behind it is that it helps the researcher to get a clearer understanding of the topic of the research.
In this research, the data will be collected by the secondary data collection method as it helps the researcher to save time and at the same time, it also reduces the cost of the research.
The sampling method that is going to be used in this research paper is simple random sampling as this process helps to reduce the biases in the founding of the research and all the people of a population get an equal chance to get selected for the research (Rahman et al., 2022).
Schedule your project activities in the form of a Gantt chart
