Reflecting the key academic study skills that have developed in Module 1 referring both academic and professional life.
According to Gibbs reflective model I am fully engaged in a life-changing experience as I complete the Module, developing both my academic learning abilities and my understanding in my subject of study. I will be looking at the major competencies that have influenced my academic experience in this personal reflection, with an emphasis on reading methods, academic style, locating and assessing reliable academic sources, precise citations, and presenting techniques. Through a reflective lens, the value of these abilities will be understood when they are examined in relation to my academics and future professional lives.
In the context of Gibbs model one of the most important abilities I have acquired is competent reading. This module pushed me to use texts creatively instead of just as a consumer of data (Teng and Yue, 2023). It has been proposed to employ the SQ3R look at (Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review). I gained a greater understanding of the topic at hand as well as enhanced recall and ability to think critically using this technique. When I think back on my time in college, this ability proved essential for figuring out challenging material and putting shared knowledge, providing a strong basis to my future educational endeavors. Comprehending and employing a suitable academic writing style proved crucial in effectively conveying my thoughts. The module dealt with the value of impartiality, accuracy and clarity in academic writing. When I think back on my first entries and contrast them with what I've done now, I can clearly see that my essays' consistency and organization have gotten better. This ability helps me succeed academically and gets me ready for the working world, where effective communication is essential.
Using Gibbs reflective cycle being able to identify trustworthy sources is essential in the age of data saturation (Adeani et al, 2020). My ability to critically assess academic texts, taking into account authorship, publishing currently and peer review has improved as a result of this course. This discernment is really helpful for developing a habit for continuing education as well as for creating strong claims in my projects. Sorting through information is an essential skill in the working world, which makes it very useful and transferrable (Hendriarto et al, 2021). The most challenging but worthwhile portion of my professional life has been learning the nuances of correct referencing. My discipline has been ingrained with an attention to precision and academic honesty that goes beyond following reference formats like APA or MLA. As I consider how crucial accurate referencing is, I see that it serves a part in both preventing plagiarism and recognizing the contributions of the thoughts of others. A strong ethical basis is necessary for success in terms of both classroom and employment. One dynamic aspect of my education has been honing my presenting abilities. Module has given me an opportunity to hone my communication skills, from developing captivating visual aids to conquering stage fear.
To sum up, Module has had a major impact on the way I approach academic research. In addition to improving my academic achievement, the reflective path via reading methods, academic style, resource assessment, reference and writing abilities has also given me a strong platform for my future career aspirations (Jo, 2021). These abilities will be my guide going forwards, leading me to achievement in my educational and professional endeavors as well as continuous improvement.
