Part 1: Introduction - Impact of Attendance and Learning Styles in Business School
Student attendance is a mandatory factor for developing performance levels, especially for higher secondary students. The study of the given research article “Understanding Student Attendance in Business School” helps me to understand how regular attendance plays an important factor for Business school students. I started my Business School journey in 2022 and completed my first-year courses in the Business management field. Each stage of my learning course taught me how regular attendance helps to obtain the highest marks by smoothing my learning skills. After completing my graduation course.
I took admitted to London Metropolitan University to complete my Business management courses (Almendingen et al. 2021). In this particular stage, I felt that regular attendance is a necessary factor to grab the learning styles and educational patterns of Business school management. I also found from the given research article that the University professors are worried about the irregularity of the B-school students. I also realize that regular attendance has an effective role in the learning patterns, understanding, and skill development process of the students. I also found that regular attendance for higher school students or university students helps to build one-to-one relationships between the professors and the students.
Description of different learning styles
According to Mearman et al. (2014), discussed different types of learning styles based on heterogeneous students' behaviors for learning styles. Some researchers highlighted that the cognitive types of learning styles are considered the best learning predictors in the entire learning process (Singh et al. 2021). On the other hand, the other approach states that there exists a total of four types of learning styles reflectors, activists, pragmatists, and theorist’s types of learning approaches.
I found that the activist types of learners involve new experiences in their entire learning journey. These types of learners also bear with the domination of immediate experiences. The second type of learning style of reflectors learning styles is also a popular learning approach. This type of learner prioritizes their previous learning experiences. The reflector types of learners always collect the data sources from different types of sources and analyses the available information (Dube, 2020). This way the learners increase their direct participation in their entire learning journey. The third important learning style is the theorists' types of learning approaches. This type of learner adapts the observation from the entire learning process and finally logically executes the learning experiences. This type of learner also executes the vertical thinking process and logical insights. The fourth type of learning style is pragmatism types of learning styles where the learners include new types of ideas, techniques, and theories in the entire learning journey. This learning style varies among the students based on the nature, heterogeneity, cultural backgrounds etc.
Attendees from the given articles
There are three types of attenders in the given articles good attenders, average attenders and poor attenders. These three different categories are distributed based on attendance percentage for higher education in business schools.
Identification of own preferred learning style
The given article helped me to learn different types of learning styles necessary in higher education and Business school learning process (Fallah et al. 2020). The given articles help me to learn different learning activities. According to my preference, I like the pragmatic types of learning styles because these types of learning styles help me to learn the idealist learning approaches. This type of learning approach helped me to learn the subjective knowledge of Business school by attending the regular coursework (Mearman, A. et al. 2014). This type of learning style also helps me to attend university classes regularly and help me to learn new ideas and knowledge. Adapting these types of learning styles also helps me to adopt the learning styles and knowledge of the other students. Therefore, I preferred to adapt the pragmatic types of learning styles for my future coursework.
Conclusion
The adaption of pragmatic types of learning styles helps me to develop my learning approaches. This type of learning approach also helps me to learn new ideas, and course work by attending regular University classes. But also there exists some lack in this given learning style which confused me in improving my learning styles.
Weakness in learning style
The first weakness of this adaption of pragmatic types of learning styles is often confused with interpreting the distinct data sets. Often I faced challenges in deep understanding of any particular learning topic due to the adaption of various new approaches. These types of pragmatic types of learning styles also have a lack of potential coherence which creates inconsistency in my learning styles.
Improvement strategies for the future
There are different types of improvement processes to improve my self-learning styles. I can improve my learning style by developing practical knowledge and experiences. Often I overemphasize practicality which reduced my understanding of theoretic aspects. The pragmatic types of learning styles consist of moral values. Therefore, I often overlook the reality due to moral values. This also creates challenges for my learning style. Therefore, to improve this lack I may improve my practical approaches by considering only the moral values.
